Archived dosimeter measurements

Quick summary - If a Dose value is extremely outside the dosimetry system calibration range, the software may force the user to archive the measurement. This happens when the dosimeter’s Absorbance (A) value is very low and close to zero (0.000) and the software is not able to calculate a Dose. See Understanding ‘valid’ and ‘invalid’ dose values in DoseControl.

Archive measurement workflow

1        The software will prompt the user with a pop-up message. Click OK.

2        The software will make the user enter a reason for the archived measurement, to be recorded with the measurement event in the audit log. (Examples - User zero’d the reader with a sample in the holder and caused the measured Absorbance to be 0.000, or the dosimeter was not irradiated, or the dose was very close to 0.) Enter a reason.

3        The archived measurement event for the dosimeter ID will be recorded, and the absorbance will be “N/A” with a dose of “N/A”. These N/A values will appear in the dosimetry reports.

4        The archived measurement event for the dosimeter ID is recorded in the Audit log:

Next Steps

5        For any archived dosimeter, you have several options for next steps:

  • You can choose to leave the archived measurement in the report

  • You can reread the dosimeter (example: if you have accidentally caused the 0.0 Dose because you zero’d with the dosimeter in the holder, you can repeat the measurement by clicking “Reread” button on the screen)

  • You can ‘skip’ the dosimeter measurement in the report. See How to skip a dosimeter measurement.
